INTRODUCTION:
We are still looking at the principles of Christian growth. The author was lamenting about the lack of growth of his readers.  This lesson is on obedience.
MAIN LESSON:
We shall use the word GROWTH as an acronym to explain the various processes that will lead to Spiritual growth.
G-Go to the Lord daily in prayer
R-Read(study) your Bible every day
O-Obey God promptly moment by moment
W-Witness to others about Christ
T-Trust in the Lord
H-Holy Spirit (Your relationship with the Holy Spirit).
WITNESS TO OTHERS ABOUT CHRIST (THE MANDATE, THE MESSAGE AND THE METHODS)
Jesus left this earth with a special commission to us. His last words before finally departing indicate His passion and the thing that was supremely important to Him. The last words  of a dying person is his most important words. This is because, your dying moments are moments where you think about serious things not trivial things.
THE MANDATE:
1)      The Mandate is what is usually referred to as the Great Commission. Before we set out, let us determine what the scripture mandate really is.
Matthew 28:18-20
Mark 16:15-20
Luke 24:47
2)      From the scriptures above, we can deduce that the scripture mandate includes the following:
a)      Going
b)      Preaching the gospel
c)      Baptizing the converts
d)      Teaching them to observe
e)      Making Disciples
THE MESSAGE:
3)      The mandate says we should go into the world and preach the gospel. But the question is What is the gospel?
I)                  The Word GOSPEL means good news. It is the good news about the salvation of God through Jesus Christ. This means that the gospel centers on Christ.
Let us give try to define the gospel
II)               We have already seen that the gospel is good news.
III)            1Corinthians 15:1-4: It is the good news about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is centered on the fact that His substitutionary death was to save us from our sin.
IV)             Acts 5:20: The gospel is the good news about the New Kind of Life called Eternal life. The gospel gives us the good news that man can have the very life of God because of all that Jesus came to do.
V)                1 Corinthians 1:18: It is the power of God unto salvation. The gospel is the only thing that can save man and deliver him from the clutches of the devil. When one believes the gospel, the power of satan is broken over his life.
VI)             Romans 10:15: The Gospel is also called the gospel of peace. The gospel is telling the world that Christ has come to make peace between mankind and God and that everyone can now come to God and receive the eternal life.
THE METHODS
It is very important to know how to preach the gospel. The preaching of the gospel is accompanied by signs and wonders.
i)                   One on One personal evangelism:  This is by far the most effective method of evangelism. It is estimated that about 85% of people who get converted, get converted through the witness of a friend or a person.
Each Christian should cultivate the habit of sharing his/her faith (1 Peter 3:15)
MISSION 20:20 (ACTS 20:20)
ii)                 MASS EVANGELISM: This includes crusades and open-air gatherings. This method is to reach so many people at the same time.
iii)               HOUSE TO HOUSE: This method is also effective. Moving from one house to the other sharing the gospel with them.
MISSION 17:17 (ACTS 17:17)
This is also called MARKET PLACE evangelism. It is evangelism that takes place where you are working or what you are doing. If it is in the hospital, that is your mission field. Wherever you are as a child of God that place is your mission field.
iv)               STREET EVANGELISM: This refers to giving the gospel you meet at any time. It includes sharing gospel tracts and engaging people in a conversation on the street, on buses, in salons, at the barbering shop etc.
v)                  CONSULTANCY EVANGELISM: This means sharing the gospel with those who come to you where you are. For instance, if you are a doctor, you can share the gospel with all those who come to your consulting room. If you sell goods, you can share the gospel with your customers.
MEMORY VERSE
2 Corinthians 5:18
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation (NKJV)
