Inheritance: Something you receive from somebody after his/her death.

A) THE PRINCIPLE OF INHERITANCE
The Patriarchs practiced the principle of inheritance even before the law came. Isaac inherited all that Abraham had (Gen 25:6). Jacob received blessing from his father. Essau wept bitterly for a blessing because he knew the value of the father’s blessing. The birthright was the double portion and it was given to the firstborn Sons.
Firstborn is not just by order of birth but by spiritual positioning. Isaac was not the first born but he had all things from Abraham. Jacob was not a firstborn but by spiritual placement he became the firstborn and inherited the blessing of Abraham (Gen 28:3-4). Joseph was not a firstborn physically but he inherited the birthright (Double portion)..1 Chr 5:1-2, Gen 48:21-22

LESSON: God’s idea of firstborn is not biological but spiritual.

B)THE INHERITANCE OF SONS IS THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM.
The Bible nowhere talks about Abraham’s blessings. It rather talks about Abraham’s Blessing, singular not plural.
What is Abraham’s blessing? The promise of the Spirit (Gal 3:14). What God sought to do with Abraham through covenant was to make the two of them one. So that what is for God is for Abraham and what is for Abraham is for God.
Our connection with Christ is the fact that we are made into one with him. We are joint heirs with him (Rom 8:17), we are one spirit with Him (1Cor 6:17). By our connection with Jesus, we are partakers if Abraham’s Blessing (Gal 3:29, 3:14) which is the Promise of the SPIRIT.

C) ABRAHAM’S BLESSING GIVES GOD AN INHERITANCE IN US AND GIVES US AN INHERITANCE IN GOD.
The Bible talks about His inheritance in us (Eph 1:18) and our inheritance in Him (Eph 1:11).

GOD’S INHERITANCE
After Adam fell, God lost influence on the earth because He has already given dominion over the earth to mankind. Abraham gave God that influence through his obedience and covenant with God. When Abraham gave his only begotten son, God could also give His only begotten Son. So when we give God our lives to use, He inherits a portion of the earth and he gives us inheritance. He used Israel as a firstborn to inherit or possess the nations (Ps 82:8), and also gave them an inheritance (Ex 4:22).

D) CHRIST IN US AND WE IN HIM.
This is a summary of Abraham’s Blessing. It is a blessing which helps you to attain oneness with Him.
Note: Isaac blessed Jacob with prosperity, health, dominion over his enemies and other things BUT those things were not the Blessing. Later he blessed him with the blessing of Abraham (Gen 28:3-4). When he met God, he requested for that blessing. God blessed him with a new identity (Israel). That was Abraham’s Blessing; oneness with the Spirit.

E) ABRAHAM’S BLESSING IS A BLESSING WITH ALL THINGS.
In other words, when we attain oneness with God and all that is ours is His and vice versa, we will inherit all things. This is a higher realm than material prosperity. God promised Abraham that he will inherit the whole world (Rom 4:13).
1. Abraham was blessed in ALL THINGS (GEN 24:1)
2. Abraham gave Isaac ALL (GEN 25:6)
3. God gave Jesus ALL THINGS (Jhn 16:15, Jhn 3:25, Mt 11:27)
4. The Spirit searches ALL THINGS (1 Cor 2:10)
5. He gives us freely ALL THINGS (ROM 8:32)
6. He has given us ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness (1 pet 1:3-4)
7. We are to prosper in ALL THINGS when our soul prospers (3 John 2).
