Last week we looked at a man after God’s own heart and today, we are looking at the sure mercies of David. And this is fourteenth part of the series on sonship. If you want the full audio message, please send a request to allforchristyouthmission@gmail.com

David’s life is worth studying because he epitomizes true sonship. There are many things that are uniquely said only of David.
He was the only one in the Bible to earn the accolade, a man after God’s own heart. He was also the only one who was identified with sure mercies (IS 55:3, ACTS 13:34)

A. GOD’S MERCY ALWAYS GOES WITH COVENANT
Covenant is what brings one into special relationship with God. When there is covenant, mercy is released from God
(Neh 1:5, 9:32, 2Chron 6:14, Ps 89:28, Dan 9:4,)

B. MERCY IS THE ONLY PLATFORM ON WHICH GOD DEALS WTH MAN
In the Old Testament, God instructed Moses to build a Tabernacle so that He may dwell amongst them (Ex 25:8). The last part of the Tabernacle (Holy of Holies) had only one piece of furniture, which is the Ark of the covenant. That was where God dwelt.

On top of the covering of the ark was two carvings of Cherubim with their wings stretched upon the ark. In between the two Cherubim was a bowl called THE MERCY SEAT. On the day of atonement, the high priest entered into the Holy of Holies to sprinkle the blood of bulls on the mercy seat seven times before the sin of the people were covered. He did this yearly.

It is significant to note the things that were in the ark of the covenant; the golden pot of mana, the tablets of the commandment, Aaron’s rod that budded (Heb 9:1-5). The things in the ark symbolized the rejection of the people of Israel of God’s provision (mana, Num 11:6), authority Aaron’s rod (Num 17), and standards (The tablets).
God had to cover all their rebellion with the mercy seat before He could relate with them. In the New Testament too, the only platform that brings God and us together is MERCY.

Eph 2:4-5. Christ entered into Heaven’s holy of holies and sprinkled His blood on the MERCY SEAT once and for all and obtained eternal redemption for us.

This is just a summary. Please get the full teaching through the email in the introduction. Blessings
