TRANSACTING BUSINESS WITH GOD PT 4 – The Principle of Consistency

We are looking at the seven principles we must know and walk in if we want to transact business with God. Our knowledge of God should be experiential. If you look at the Patriarchs of our faith, you would see that their walk with God had definite landmarks. These landmarks pointed to particular periods or seasons of their walk with God. Abraham could point to an altar, tree or pillar at a place where he encountered God.

Our walk with God should also have spiritual landmarks to show. Last week I touched on the Principle of Worship as the first among seven principles that are non negotiable if we really want to walk with God.

Today I am talking about The Principle of Consistency.

The nature of God demands that we show consistency if we can walk with Him. Also, the very walk with God will train us to be consistent.

Consistency tests our seriousness. The reason why God sometimes seems to delay answers to prayers is to build consistency in us.
He waits till He can count on your consistency before He commits to you. In the life of the people of Israel, God gave them many routines to follow.

Exodus 16:4
“Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.”

Here, God told them to gather a certain quota that would be sufficient for a day. He wanted them to go every day to gather. He said He gave them that instruction to test them. He wanted to instil in them this principle of consistency. Human nature is such that we easily get bored doing one thing over and over again. But that is exactly how God trains us.

He gave them instructions to go round Jericho for seven days and seven times on the seventh day.
Consistency is what draws the spirit dimension of anything. If you want to contact the spirit behind a particular thing, you would have to keep engaging it for sometime. A clear example is this; if you persist in a particular sin, a time comes when you receive demonic backing. Both the demonic spirits and the Divine spirits believe in consistency. You can encounter the Spirit of Revelation if you give attention to the Word consistently. You can encounter the Spirit dimension of any Godly virtue like faith, Holiness, power etc if you give yourself consistently to it.

Consistency instills into you the ability to wait.

Waiting is something we all don’t want. Imagine somebody telling you to wait for him and you don’t know exactly when he is coming. It’s quite frustrating. That is why places like banks have Televisions to engage you while you wait. If you want to transact business with God, you must be able to wait. God gives routines and puts us on the same thing for a long time because He wants to kill that thing in us which  doesn’t want to wait. A missionary is not a mission in a hurry. The more mature we become, the more we understand that the key to speed in the economy of God is Wait. Those who wait do not just walk but they mount up with wings.

Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Here we see that waiting leads to flying. If you wait and go through God’s process, He releases you with wings. You will by pass those who took off walking or running because they couldn’t wait.

In God’s economy we run with patience.

One thing we must know is that it takes the fulfillment of all righteousness for a thing of Heaven to manifest on earth. Heaven and earth must be in alignment before Heaven can impact earth. It is earth that must adjust itself into alignment with Heaven. In other words, man must seek the Will of Heaven and adjust himself to do it. In that case, Heaven and earth comes into alignment and that makes it possible for Heaven to impact earth. That is what happened at Jordan.

Matthew 3:15-16
“And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.”
“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up immediately out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:”

When Jesus submitted to Heaven’s order, the heavens was opened and there was an impartation.
Sometimes God puts us in a routine just for us to come into alignment with Heaven’s order before we experience Heaven’s impact. That is the reason why consistency is very important.
Elijah had to engage God seven times before he was finally brought into alignment  with divine order for it to rain.

1 Kings 18:42-44
“So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,”
“And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.”
“And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there arises a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare your chariot, and get you down that the rain stop you not.”

My question is, what if Elijah had given up at the fifth time or sixth time? Do you now understand how and why we sometimes abort divine ‘pregnancies’? The principle is ‘He that endures to the END shall be saved’. Consistency is what will help you to endure to the end. So then, keep praying, keep seeking, keep following, keep giving even if you are not seeing immediate results. What you are doing is gathering of vapour into the clouds. When the clouds are full, they will empty themselves and you will get rain (Psalm 135:7, Eccl 11:3).
